Varman vs Vanta
Vanta is the best-known compliance automation platform, sold in four plans with features split across them. Varman puts compliance, penetration testing, and AI governance in one plan. Here is how they compare, with sources.
Both products do the core job: connect your cloud, identity, and code systems, run checks on a schedule, and keep the evidence an auditor asks for. The differences are in how much of the security program sits in the same place, and in how the product is packaged.
Vanta sells Essentials, Plus, Professional, and Enterprise plans, and features such as questionnaire automation, risk management, and the advanced Trust Center depend on the plan. Penetration tests are usually bought from a partner firm. Varman is in early access with one plan that includes the whole platform, and penetration tests run from the platform itself.
Vanta covers more frameworks today, including HITRUST, FedRAMP, and DORA, and has a large partner and auditor network. If you need one of those frameworks now, Vanta is the safer choice.

Pick Vanta if
- You need HITRUST, FedRAMP, DORA, or another framework Varman does not have yet.

- You already buy penetration tests from a firm you trust and do not need them in the platform.
Pick Varman if
- You want penetration tests in the same platform as your controls, on a schedule.
- You want questionnaires, risk, and the Trust Center without moving up a plan.
- You run AI governance next to SOC 2 or ISO 27001 and want one register for both.
